Key West Half Marathon or Bust!

Things have been hectic, per usual. This time it’s as I prepare for sunny Florida and the Key West Half Marathon.

Can't wait to be 90 miles from Cuba again.

Can’t wait to be 90 miles from Cuba again.

I gotta tell ya, it couldn’t come at a better time. The weather around North Texas has been, shall we say, less than stellar. Cold, Rainy, Windy. I’m over it. Hard to run in this garbage regularly without going mental.

What's been staring me in the face on my 6am runs.

Despite the conditions, I’ve continued to stick to the plan – and by plan, I mean not skipping any runs/workouts. My last “long” run was this past weekend with WRRC. We went all over Dallas. Totaling over 15 miles, at a decent pace. Hopefully this means I’ll be in decent shape for the race!

IMG_2678 So there ya go. Next stop: beaches, boats, bars, & ballads. I’ll try to keep up with the blog, but if not, you can always find me posting nonsense on my Instagram. Stay tuned for vacay/race updates!!!

How bout you? Getting your workouts in despite crummy weather? Anyone else heading to where the weather suits your clothes? Will anyone else be in Key West for the half marathon???

Enjoy sunny Florida and have a great time in the race.
I’m racing this weekend but up north, where it’s cold. I’m not looking forward to it.
Looking forward to your Instagram updates 😉

I’m starting to get back on track with my workouts since I’ve been feeling better but my runs have been on the treadmill….way too cold here with the windchill, like single digits…I’m not that much of a badass mother runner 🙂 I’m a wimp! Have fun this weekend!! Look for my friend wearing “Moms Run Key West” shirts…..they will be MUCH slower than you, but you never know 🙂

  5. That sounds so amazing right now. Have a great time. Enjoy sweating again!

That race sounds awesome. Good luck! The key west marathon is on my radar so I’ll be interested to see how got like it. We are having a heat wave. Although it was 15 degrees. So our heat wave is your misery. Give it 15 more degrees and people will be wearing shorts! But it’s all relative.

  7. Cannot wait to hear about the race. Colby and I are looking at it for next year. Race + getaway to a warm climate? Don’t mind if we do! I’m still getting my runs in but I like the cold. Good for you for keeping on track! Have fun this weekend!

    • Thank you! Stay tuned. I just wish yall were here this year instead of next. Gotta love everything about a race in key west, right?

  8. It’s been pretty frigid here lately, but that’s ok because I don’t mind treadmill runs. I’m very, very jealous of your trip to sunny FL. I could use a dose of sunshine and warmth!

  9. Good luck in Key West! You are the man for running in 15 degrees! I guess your native Ohio-blood is still pretty thick down in Texas :-p I’ll be stalking your craziness on Instagram for sure. Say hi to Cuba for me!

    • Thank you! Ha, well i didnt enjoy the cold runs, but hopefully it will pay off. And yes, my blood has thinned, but i guess i can take a little cold. Stalk away! Hola cuba!

  10. Good luck in Key West! Enjoy the warmth for all of us back in the frozen tundra.

  11. Good luck and enjoy the warm weather for all of us 🙂

  12. There are a lot of the number 15 in this post. Good luck and have fun!

  13. Good luck and your crummy weather is our normal here in Boston! It’s cold, rainy/snowy today, totally not my favorite weather to run in! Good luck in Key West, PLEASE eat a piece of key lime pie for me, its my most favorite dessert ever!
