Running Vampires, Throwin Shade, and More Blogger Shout-Outs!

Whew, thangs bean bizzay round hurrah. Trying to ketchup.

Firsty, I’ve had some good runs recently…specially the ones with friends.

My friend Josh totally did not photoshop this in any way. None of us have shadows because we're vampires.

It’s always fun runnin with TNSR. If you’re ever in North Texas on a Thursday, you should join us!

What the sign says.

We run, and then hang out for a hot minute to talk (about running).

I also re-incorporated track workouts into my routine. Most of the time I’m going these solo, buutttttt to my surprise, I had a run bud meet me for some 400’s! Makes the pukey feeling go by faster.

Sometimes in life it just feels like we're running in circles.

Felt good to shake the legs out with some speed work. But it’s also fun to do some long slow runs. This week I met up again with WRRC to get the miles in.

Not trainin for anything specific, just trying to keep in shape.

And of course I’m still doing my cross training with weightlifting and yoga.

I'm in there somewhere.

Males are in the minority apparently.

And I have to end with a shout out to the latest blogger friends who donated to my charity fundraiser for the Chicago Marathon.

Check out these dope people: LifeBetweenTheMiles, MarathonStateofMind, & VeryRach!

I’m very close to my goal amount and I couldn’t have gotten this far without everyone who has pitched in. Thank you so much you guys!!!!!

If you’d like to donate, you can do so HERE. To see a totally high tech special effects video I made of why you should dontate, click HERE.

How bout you? Doing any speed work? Do you prefer running alone or with others? Has anyone else heard if they got in Chicago yet?

  1. Vampires. I knew it.

That totally doesn’t look Photoshopped at all. Why would you even say that? 😉

  2. I haven’t done speed work in a while. I’m excited to get back to it soon, because I’m gunning for PRs this year. Congratulations on your fundraising efforts! I get paid May 4, so at least one more donation is coming your way!

Great job on your running!! I love running with others for easy and long runs but I prefer to run solo for my hills and speedwork. I think because I’d rather not have anyone witness what I sound like when I’m huffing and puffing trying not to die 😉

    • Thank you!!! And hahaha, I hear ya. But I’ve found that it actually can make it easier to do the hills and speed work when there’s others around me going through the same thing!

  4. Loved your post! Just one more week until I start the ‘real’ marathon training that will include speedwork (yikes!). I actually enjoy running with friends but I run better solo.

    • Thanks so much!!! I see you’re running Medtronic – best of luck in your training! The speedwork will suck, but it will make you so strong!!! Just remember that! Now go find some friends to run with!

  5. Your runs with your friends look like a blast! I haven’t been doing any speed work because I’m recovering from Boston and still my bum Achilles. I miss it (and the pukey feeling, LOL!). I like running alone AND with others. My Achilles injury made me have to go out running solo a lot, and I realized how much I missed that. But then I run with friends and I realize how much I enjoy that. So I think it’s really a toss up! I am still stoked that you get to run in Chi-town this fall – such a good race!

    • I do enjoy our group runs tons! Congrats on Boston!!! I hope to be there one day. And get your Achilles healed!! Haha, you gotta love the pukey feeling of track work – though my friend did NOT. Yes, super pumped about Chicago – any advice would be most welcome!!

      • Chicago is awesome. The course, the race organization, the expo…top notch! I recommend the pasta party – barely anyone goes (opposite of Boston) and it was hands down the best food I’ve had at a pasta dinner. It was like…fancy. Haha. Also, don’t get to cozy with your watch. I’ve run in cities lots before but for some reason that city is rough with satillites. I had no idea what pace I was running the whole day! I wrote a whole post about it. I had no idea that I was basically like 1:20 off of a PR – and I had some energy left towards the end and probably could have made some time up. Definitely a BQ course though! Love that race!

      • Thanks for all the tips! Especially about the watch – I had the same problem on a run in Houston a couple months ago – the skyscrapers were blocking me out. Good to know!!!

  6. I like to run on my own mostly, although whenever I am with a group, I realize it’s pretty fun. You throw down some great miles!

    • I do like the head clearing my solo runs give me, but like you said, running with a group can be a blast! Thank you!!

  7. Never thought I would like running with peeps, but it grew on me and I really enjoyed it during my marathon training last summer. Will be starting back up with a group in a few weeks. Not a fan of speed work, but getting more in. We didn’t try to get into Chicago this year, but have toyed with the idea. Can’t wait to hear about your adventures.

    • Agreed – running with others when training for a marathon really helps the long runs go by faster. Good luck with your group! Yeah, speed work sucks, but it really does help! I will keep you posted on Chicago – I’m beyond excited for it!!!!!

  8. Sue @ This Mama Runs For Cupcakes

Whoo hoo! Just donated and I got you to $1000 on the nose 😉

  9. Super nice you had a friend join your for track work- that’s a good friend!
I haven’t done speed work since my track days over a decade ago! I’d love to mix it in one day soon 🙂

    • She must be, because I know how much she was hating it. Joined me again this week too – lol, first thing she did when getting out of her car was give me an evil glare.
I hadn’t done speed work since high school track until a few years ago. It feels good to be back on it! You should mix it in. You can probably let the little one crawl around on the infield while you do. 😉

  10. Wow that first photo is so cool. You guys all look like you aren’t even touching the ground too. My speed work is done on trails as we don’t have a track up here. Just keeping it real. Group runs are fun and I like them for longer runs. For my shorter mid week runs I always have the mutt to run with. She keeps it interesting.

    • Haha, yup, we’re magical runners! I remember you talking about not having a track. Ya know, I’ve red that Meb no longer does track workouts, but does speedwork on the roads instead – probably a good choice, but I like the track, to be honest. And whaaaaa? You have a doggy running buddy??? I did not know that! 😉

  11. I need to start reading the photo caption before I start analyzing the photo, that was creepy, lol!!

  12. Track workouts suck so good.
