Final Cool Runs, Yoga Anus Confirmation, and Brunch!

Welp, it was nice while it lasted.  The whole ‘arctic vortex’ came and went.  We had a glorious few days of record low temps in North Texas…and I took full advantage.  I ran every day of it.  Here’s what my week looked like:

Sun trail run + yogaTues – run + weights.  Wed – track work.  Thurs run + weights.  Fri – run.  Satrun + yard workout.  Sun – run + yoga.

Oh, and guess what?!?!  In Sunday’s yoga I learned more about the whole ‘anus clenching‘ thing.  It’s called ‘Mula Bandha‘.  I won’t get into the details today, but it’s supposed to have many benefits.  I guess it’s a big deal.  Who knew?  That’s the thing about yoga, you’re always learning.

Anyway, after yoga, we we knew the cool weather was going buh-bye, so we squeezed in one last outdoor fun time – patio brunch!

She loved the black bean dip so much she decided to save some for later on her face and clothes and hair.

Of course the autumn-y weather is gone now and we’re back to 90% humidity and near triple digits temps.  Return of the sweatfest!  I’m not complaining though – last week’s break was such a nice surprise!

How bout you?  Been working on your mula bandha?  Who else loves patio brunches?  Anyone else get to enjoy a weather break?

  1. Oh boy the heat came back hard here today too. It definitely is discouraging with my pace. But I do enjoy a good sweat. By the way, I don’t blame her….black bean dip good!

    • Yeah, it went from the coolest days of summer to the hottest! Ouch! Yeah, don’t worry about your pace in these temps for sure! Oh yes, black bean dip very good!

  2. I’m too afraid of those flying beetles of terror to enjoy patio lunches out this way. I think there are only two places in town with patios. It’s cooled off here a bit and is supposed to stay just nice for the next week. I’ll take it.

    • Haha, yeah, where you live pretty much every critter outside could take off a limb! Yeah, I guess you don’t really live in a booming patio business part of the world. I hope it stays mild for you!

  3. Haven’t been working on my mula bandha, although I’m intrigued! I have been working on isolated glute squeezes though. Try it out! Lots of my clients are finding one cheek is easier to squeeze than the other haha. We’re on a bit of a hot weather lull over here, however I’m sure even our hottest days wouldn’t come close to one of your recent cool days!

    • Ha, she claims it’s a key to yoga! I’ll take her word for it. Hmmm, isolated eh. I’ll give it a try. I do try to make sure most of my leg exercises in the gym work my legs independently (i.e. lunges) so I don’t develop an imbalance. Well, I guess the heat is relative – though growing up in Ohio I did live in places with no AC!

  4. The heat left here for awhile but then the humidity came. Granted our measly 50 is nothing like the numbers you guys get, but we’re used to something like 6!

  5. It was killing you that you hadn’t mentioned the anus in a while, wasn’t it?

  6. I love eating outside! Sorry your nicer weather left you, but just think – when we’re shoveling 3 feet of snow, you’ll have lots of nice runs. LOL

    • It’s funny, the patio place we went to used to be open completely, but they just added a roof…and other protection from the elements. Haha, we want to be outdoors with the comforts of indoors.
Yes, I will be thinkin of y’all in the winter!

  7. So yesterday I was working out with my trainer and he told me to squeeze my ass cheeks and all I could think about was your experience with anus clenching.

Glad you got to enjoy the cooler weather – wasn’t it incredible!?

    • Hahahaha, maybe this is a new trend??? I actually read an article about a guy who can control his own body heat – he starts by clenching his rectum it said.

It was uhmaizing!!! They say another round is on the way!

  8. Ha, your take on some yoga things cracks me up!

  9. Any patio/outdoor meal is good with me!

  10. I’ve totally been working on my mula bandha and I LOVE patio brunch! Or outside eating in general. We had that cooler than normal weather recently as well and we had many a dinner outside! It was nice while it lasted. 🙂

    • Yes, I knew you would! Patio brunch is the best! I’ll add it to the list of to-do’s when you come race here! Glad you got to enjoy it too!

  11. no weather break for me but I run early enough it’s manageable. Nothing wrong with saving some bean dip for later lol.

  12. I don’t want to spread rumors or anything, but I hear another polar vortex might be in the forecast.

  13. Mula bandha. I think I e heard yoga teachers say that before, but they never mentioned anuses. I’ll blame them for me doing it all wrong.

  14. Love that pic of your girl!

  15. I just read about mula bandha and am even more confused. 🙂
