Cool Runnings, Doggy Walkings, & World Cup Withdrawaling

Holy guacamole! The weather gods gave us a break today from the stifling heat and humidity. I woke up to temps in the 60’s! I was so excited to go for my morning run. I hit up the track for some 400’s.

Hello old friend. Seems like we just saw each other a week ago.

Hello old friend. Seems like we just saw each other a week ago.

Man, was it nice to be able to breath actual air and not vaporized liquid. And it was so great not being completely DRENCHED in sweat for once. I only wish I had more time so I could run all the miles.

And besides comfortable tolerable running conditions, it also makes for nice evening doggy/kiddy walks. Our walks only go about a mile usually, but normally we’re all soaked in sweat by the end. Nice not to be all swampy for wunce.

Other than that, the World Cup is over. It was a great month-long tourney. The best part was hanging out at watch parties with friends and families and friendilies.

My male model friend. We've actually played brothers in two separate movies. I guess that means I look like a male model too?

Anyway, onward and upward (facing dog).  I just hope the weather is still slightly cool in the morning!  Cross your fingers, or legs, or whatever it is you do.

You get a break from the heat too? Did you take advantage? Missing the World Cup?

  1. You must have sent the heat/humidity here…it’s friggin haut in Nova Scotia now 😦 I packed my bag to run at lunch today and walked out of the house with the girls (at 8am) and the humidity almost knocked me over! It’s also been raining a lot this week: heat, humidity, rain and thunderstorms – sawweeet!!!
Yeah, I’m missing all the “google” soccer ads 🙂

    • You can have it! Ha, seriously, they said the same ‘polar vortex’ that gave us the super freeze in winter is back this week to bring us a couple cool days and some much needed rain. I hope ‘they’ are right!

  2. I miss the World Cup almost as much as I miss the NHL 🙂

  3. Not the World Cup, but the Premier League will be starting up soon. Always MLS games if the craving gets too much…

    • My #1 bucket list item is to go to a Premier League match. Tried to last time in England, but it didn’t work out. FC Dallas stadium is 2 miles from our house, so I do try to go to their matches whenever I can. Quality isn’t the same though.

  4. Cooler temps in KY were my saving grace for 6 miles this morning coming off a 5k less than 12 hrs earlier.

I’m ready for some real football….NFL!!!

    • Haha, I bet!!! I’ve been squeezing in as many runs as possible during this cool period. I know it won’t last.

‘Real’ football? Like Real Madrid? 😉 They’re pretty good!

  5. oh I am so jealous of the 60s!!!!

  6. I got a little break from the heat today as well – got stuck running in the rain. At least things were a bit cooler. I guess I shouldn’t complain, though, as running in Boston is still probably waaaaay cooler than running in Texas!

    • Hahaha, I remember one of my last visits to Boston and I had dinner with a friend. He was telling me how they don’t have AC at his place. People would die down here without AC!

  7. We’ve actually been pretty muggy here lately, nothing near what you had but for this area it bites! I don’t know how you do it. That track looks amazing!

    • We had our hottest day of the summer, followed by the coolest. It’s been a sweet few days! I found this track recently – only 2 miles from my house. It’s been good to me!

  8. I finally watched a World Cup game! Some of one at least. And it was the final match and I’m in Germany… it was awesome.

  9. The temps are cooler and less humid than usual in NYC, but still stickier than I would like it. I grew up in CA with no humidity.

I miss the WC, but I’m getting my sports fix with Tour de France.

    • Haha, yes, I know, everything is perfect in CA. I always thought of the south as dry…until I moved here. Ugh. So muggy.
Ah yes, the TDF is fascinating to me. So amazing and so dangerous too!

      • CA is my utopia. My favorite part of TDF is actually watching them eat and seeing the domestiques get the food and water for everyone and pass it out.

  10. It was a glorious day in NYC, too! I hit the track as well. Still humid here, but I’ll take it. I don’t miss World Cup, but I do miss all your reaction faces.

    • Ahh yes, I saw your IG pic! Oh, it was still humid, but only like 65%, not the normal 88%. Haha, the WC is so emotional!!!

  11. Evening walks are the best. Even after a crazy day of work I still love taking the hubby and the dog around the block. This week we have gotten a break from the heat which has been wonderful since we don’t have central heating and air!

    • Mee too! It’s so relaxing. Though with toddlers it takes like 4 times as long as it should. Shheesh! I think the whole country go a bit of a break, love it! You don’t have AC? That’s not too bad since you live up north, but no heat!?!?!?!?!?! Good luck in the winter!

  12. Yeah, our temps went down a tad, but the humidity went up because it’s been cloudy and/or rainy the whole first half of the week. When I ran Tuesday night it was 88% humidity and it was a total suckfest!

    • Ha, well, normally our humidity is around 85% along with triple digit temps, so consider yourself lucky!!! I’m diggin the break from the sun!

  13. Yup, we got a small break this morning from the humidity. It was beautiful this morning.

Nope, planned run for thi evening. Any chance the nice weather hangs around all day??

  14. Oh man, I am so over this cooler weather, but I certainly understand where you are coming from. By the way, I guess I always just assumed you were a male model.

    • What the what?!? Over it? We’ve only had one morning of it. Haha!
And BTW, you just moved to the top of my favorite’s list!

  15. yes I miss the World Cup! And you can post pics with your male model friend anytime. ; ) lol The no humidity is AWESOME 😀

  16. So happy you guys had some cooler weather! We had a short break too but I didn’t take advantage like I would have preferred 🙂

Ha! I was going to say you look like your friend!

    • Thank you! It was a great break! I hope you get another break you can take advantage of!

Haha, why thank you! Now if only I had his abs. 😉
