Howdy Folks! So recently I got sent a shipment of products from NOW Foods. If you’re not familiar, here’s how they describe themselves:
“NOW Foods, a family-owned company since 1968, is a leader in the nutritional supplements industry and dedicated to providing customers with a comprehensive approach to wellness by offering a variety of high-quality, natural and affordable products. Founded on the belief that natural is better, NOW Foods is proud to offer more than 1,400 natural products that are specifically formulated to help support optimal health through good nutrition. NOW Foods product offerings range from nutrient-rich foods and supplements to personal care and sports nutrition items.”
I’m always a little weary of products I ingest in my body, as I tend to believe that most companies will usually look at the bottom line (i.e. profits) instead of actually focusing on providing stuff that’s actually good for people. So I was happy to test out the items they sent me because NOW seems to strive to be the latter.
Over the past month, I’ve been trying out the different products they sent me, and I’ve been liking all of them. One good thing is that I actually have experience with other brands of some of these same items. So I was glad I had something to compare them to.
First off, I like the taste of all of them. Sometimes supplements and such can taste a bit nasty, but I haven’t found that to be the case here. For example, they’ve been citrusy, fruity, or velvety vanilla smoothy, etc. Just like they labels say.
I also noticed an increase in performance. I can really tell a difference on days that I do not take the various supplements compared to the days I do. That’s what’s most important to me – actually noticing an improvement in how I feel. Now I understand everyone is different and different things will affect different people differently (that’s a lot of differents), but for me, it’s worked.
If you are interested in any of the products they sent me, here are the descriptions:
NOW® Sports Pea Protein is a Non-GMO vegetable protein isolate that has 25 grams of easily-digested protein. Each 1 scoop (41 g) serving typically has over 4,400 mg of branched chain amino acids, and over 2,000 mg of L-Arginine. NOW® Sports Pea Protein has a smooth texture and mixes easily into water or other beverages.
Peas are well known for being a highly bioavailable protein. Additionally, they have no major allergens. Collectively, this makes pea protein an ideal source of post-workout nutrition for athletes who may have difficulty supplementing with other types of protein.
NOW® L-Carnitine Liquid provides all of the extensive benefits of Carnitine in a highly absorbable liquid form. L-Carnitine is a non-essential amino acid that helps to maintain overall good health by facilitating the transfer of fatty acid groups into the mitochondrial membrane for cellular energy production.* It naturally occurs in red meat and other animal-source foods, but we recommend supplementation to obtain optimal levels of this excellent amino acid. NOW® L-Carnitine is the purest form, clinically tested, and vegetarian (non-animal sourced).
Protein is vital to hundreds of the body’s most basic biological functions. Unfortunately, many individuals cannot tolerate some of the natural compounds found in whey, egg, soy and other protein sources due to their unique food allergies. NOW® Sprouted Brown Rice Protein Powder is ideal for those who live with allergies and sensitivities to these ingredients. This brown rice protein is also natural and pure, with no added ingredients, and mixes easily into your favorite beverages.
Men’s Extreme Sports Multi – 90 Softgels
- With Free-Form Amino Acids, ZMA®, Tribulus, MCT Oil, Herbal Extracts and more!
- A Dietary Supplement
Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT’s) are fats that are naturally found in coconut and palm kernel oil. MCT’s are more easily and rapidly digested than other types of fats, as they require lower amounts of enzymes and bile acids for intestinal absorption. MCT’s are metabolized very quickly in the liver and are reported to encourage energy expenditure, and not fat storage. Numerous studies suggest that substituting MCT Oil for other fats in a healthy diet may therefore help to support healthy weight and body composition.
As a dietary supplement, take 1 tablespoon (15 mL) 1 to 3 times daily. MCT Oil can also be used as a substitute for conventional oils in salad dressings, sauces or cooking as a source of beneficial fatty acids. Not recommended for use in frying due to low boiling point.
So there ya go kids. Just a little side experiment I’ve been doing the past few weeks. If you’ve tried (or are going to try) any of the NOW Food products, let me know your thoughts!
