Milestone Blog Post (kind of)

Way back when, when I first started training for my first marathon, I was asked a lot of questions.  Most of them like, “How’s the marathon training going?”  Now I like talking about myself as much as the next homeboy, but it was getting repetitive.  So I started a blog.  That way people could read about how it was going.  Then I finished said marathon training and marathon.

First marathon experience was painful.

First marathon experience was painful. More so because I think the mom-jorts behind us was mocking us on her cell phone call.

Fast forward a couple years and my blog evolved.  I was writing about everything and anything (but mainly focused on running).  I had a nice collection of stories going.  But then I had a minor little freak out.  “These people don’t need to be all up in my business.”  I woke up one day and deleted everything.  Everything I had written.  Then entire blog history.

Fast forward a couple more years and I decided to get back in the game.  I have always loved writing (even winning an Emmy for it).

1/6 I've won.

1st of 6 I’ve won. Sadly, the pocket square is no longer with us (washing accident).

I like the way blogging helps get my creative brain muscle flexing.  I also like sharing stuff that may help other people.  And in the years since my first marathon, I’ve learned a TON.  So hopefully I can share something I’ve learned to help someone out.

So anyway, long story long, I just realized this is my 209’th post since I started re-blogging.  Sure, it would’ve been more ceremonious had I done this on my 200th, but that would require me paying more attention.  So happy 209th e’rbody!

Other than that, I had a nice few workouts so far this week.  A 9+ miler run, Lululemon Yoga, a 5k (on my own) and some doggy walks.  And the week isn’t even half over.  More to come!

How bout you?  How’s your week going?  Any unusual milestones?  Ever had an internet freak out (not the good kind)?

-Scott

  1. I’m glad you decided to start re-blogging as your posts are informative, fun and creative. I’m also learning lots about tacos which is invaluable (I’m serious). No internet freak-outs yet, but I think I’m only at blog 49. Give it some time. Happy blogging!

    • Wow, thank you so much! I enjoy yours as well! People keep messaging me about the tacos – maybe I should just blog about that! Haha. PS, I have more taco news coming!!!

  2. I’m also happy you started reblogging! Happy 209th!
I always have internet freak outs, just when I think about people I used to know reading it! (The strangers thing doesn’t really bug me so much!)

    • Haha, thank you!
I know what you mean. I hold a lot of stuff back because I don’t want certain people to see it. Oh well.

  3. 209 is a great number to celebrate! Congrats! Looking forward to more, I enjoy your blog 🙂

  4. Congrats, 209 is awesome! I always like reading your posts!

  5. LOL glad you kept going with the blogging! I enjoy reading/laughing at your posts! I’ve had many internet freak outs. I’m not one to share feelings, so if I get too personal, I freak out a little bit after I hit that publish button.

  6. I’m actually approaching my big 100 post milestone 🙂
Congrats to you and I’m another who’s glad you decided to re-blog. I feel you though; it was tough for me to decide to publicize parts of my life and I’m still sort of adjusting

    Happy Weird Milestone!

  8. Happy 209!
I love your blog….definitely glad you got back at it!

  9. Cat Hiles

I think 209 is definitely worth celebrating! Congrats!

  10. Ok, so yeah, I want to get up in your business. I’m sure this was discussed on your previous blog, but I want to know. What did you win the Emmy’s for writing?

  11. Congrats on your milestone. I think 209 sounds more exciting than 200 for sure! I really enjoy your posts. I find them amusing and just fun in general.

  12. I had the same freak out moment with FB. I deleted my account about 4 years ago and never looked back!

    • Ha, good for you! I’m not on it as much these days. It’s gotten pretty overwhelming. I’m having more fun with Twitter and Instagram.

  13. Happy 209th post to one of my favorite internetters!! Your blog is awesome and I’m glad you’re here!

I did have a little bit of a freakout with my old blog awhile back when it got to be REALLY overwhelming. (I wrote another blog for like 4 years and it became like a second job and wasn’t fun anymore.)

    • Thank you so much Salty!!! That means a lot coming from such a great internetter herself! Yours is one the first I read each day!
Interesting, sounds like we have similar blog histories. Hope you keep enjoying your new one!

  14. I am like the rest of your followers and enjoy your blog. I usually find myself smiling at something you have posted and we all need to smile daily. 🙂
No freak outs on the internet but I like to share 🙂

    • Thank you! I have always wanted to entertain people. Even winning ‘class clown’ all the way through my schooling career. I enjoy yours as well – can’t wait to see how the new one goes for you!!!

      • Making people laugh is something I like to do as well. I do it better in person though than through my blogs. 🙂

I am hoping the new one goes well for me too. Thanks. I hope people stick with me.

      • Haha, yes, I’m always looking to crack jokes in person or online!
        Good luck!!!

  15. I was never particularly engaged with the internet until I started my blog, didn’t have twitter or Instagram, still never go on Facebook, etc. I’m still getting used to all of it actually but I’m glad you stuck around!

    • Thank you! I prefer instagram and twitter (and vine) lately because I can make a quick joke or take a silly pic. Kind of a fun little break to the day!

  16. Happy 209th bday! 🙂

  17. Starting to blog again was the best decision you made! I haven’t had any milestone this week, but last Friday I ran 11 miles, which was my furthest I’ve ever ran! 😉 This week I’m doing a 3-day juice cleanse and I’m still working out while doing it, so that’s something I’m pretty proud of! Looking forward to eat again though! 😉

  18. HAPPY 209!!!!

  19. Congrats on 209! I can understand your concern for privacy, I’ve wondered how much I should share in such a public forum. Funny thing too- my boyfriend and our moms are the only people I’ve shared my blog with so almost everyone who reads is someone I have never met. But I agree that blogging is a great creative outlet! I’ve enjoyed reading your site and I hope you never freak out again! 😉

    Here’s to 418! 🙂

    • Thank you! Hmmm, so you’re the opposite than me, I didn’t share it with my loved ones (in case I write something that gets me in trouble, haha). But they do know about it and occasionally check it out. But yes, it’s a little strange that we have all these friend-strangers. I’m glad you like mine cause I like yours! Yes, on to 418, lol!

  20. I’m so glad you decided to get back to the game – your posts are always so much fun! You are such a happy person, and you convey that through your writing. Happy Anniversary!

  21. “I like the way blogging helps get my creative brain muscle flexing.”

    =)

  22. Congrats on 209! That’s awesome. I think I have a whopping 9 haha. I hope you keep it up, your posts are quite entertaining!

  23. I’m so glad you came back to blogging, but now I’m sad that I didn’t get to read your deleted posts.

I had a couple other blogs that I didn’t have a freak out and delete them, but I did put them into private mode.

    • Oh thank you! Yeah, it’s too bad. I’d be interesting to go back and see what I was thinking going through my first marathon training.

Putting them on private is a good idea. Maybe I should’ve done that.

What is the ‘good kind’ of Internet freakout?
Anyways, happy 209th post, birthday and successful doggy walking – big week! Enjoy another taco on me (well, you’ve still got one of those free vouchers, right?).

    • Haha, I’m not sure, but I bet google might have some suggestions.
Thank you!!! You’re in luck, I did get a surprise taco gift card in the mail!

  25. Happy 209th! I definitely freak out from time to time when I think about how much of me is “out there” but I think its because we grew up in another era. If I’d grown up with social media, the internet and blogging, I might feel differently. Or maybe I’ll delete it all in a year! haha

    • Thanks Karla! Your blog is so great, I don’t think you have to worry!
Wait a sec, are you calling me old?!?! I wish I could resent that. Ha! I know what you mean. I remember when Facebook first came out and you could see what other people were sharing with their friends, it was freaky. I hope you don’t delete yours! 😉
