The day after St. Patrick’s Day is my berfday. Always has been. Which is kind of bitter sweet. Sweet in the fact that it’s so close to one of the biggest parties of the year. Bitter because the day after St. Pat’s, not too many people want to party (many are hungover). But I can’t do nuthin about it, so I try to make the best of it!
I celebrated with a Guinness in my personalized glass, along with the 4 leaf clover plant my wife got me!
I seem to always go for a run on my bday and that didn’t change this year. And to keep the birthday week going, I did another run today.
And look out competitors in my age group – I did hill repeats for the first time this season. Hill repeats are basically the beginning of speed work, and soon I’ll be moving back to the track. #Yeehaw!
Other than that, I’ve been taking full advantage of birthday meals this week. So far I’ve had three taco meals. I took a photo of two of em. (I scarfed down the third before I could snap a pic.)

That’s an Independent and a Dirty Sanchez from Torchy’s Tacos. #Honestly #that’stheirnames #veggietoo
I still have a few days left in my birthday week, and I have some more stuff planned. #willkeepyouposted
How bout you? Anyone doing hill and/or track work? What’s your birthday meal? Am I using hashtags correctly? Anyone want to celebrate with me the day After St. Patty’s Day next year? #i’llbeyourfriend
Ok so I know I give you crap for your taco obsession, but those look AWESOME.
Now you may understand my obsession!
I gotta get out of this town and find me a taco joint. The mahi mahi looked pretty good too.
Come visit Dallas, yo.
Sounds like a great week so far! I don’t even like fish and that picture looked good.
Even if you don’t like fish, it’s hard to not like something smothered in fresh pico, avocado, grilled lime, and special sauce!
I don’t even pretend to know how to use hashtags! LOL
Ha, I don’t think it matters. Just put whatever! #whocares
Happy belated birthday! Those tacos look awesome!
Thank you! They were!
Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a great one! I love the idea of a four leaf clover plant as a gift!
And lucky you with the tacos. Since coming back from California and eating delicious Mexican daily, Kelly’s really upped his Mexican cooking game 🙂
My 62-year-old mom has started using hashtags. #whendidmymombecomecool?
Thank you! It was a pretty cool and unexpected gift!
Oh man, I bet you’re going through taco withdrawal!
My mom is tech challenged. I get 10 minute voicemails and 10 page texts. I don’t want to know what will happen when she starts on hashtags!
Happy birthday! You should come to San Francisco for your birthday, the bar I work at was actually busier than on St. Patty’s Day! I run hills but haven’t started on a track yet. I really want to incorporate some real speed work though, I’m stuck at a 9 min/mile pace!
Thank you! I’d love to! It’s been a few years since I’ve been there. You can’t help but run hills in SF can you? Speed work will def increase your per mile time! 9 mins is still great!
It’s a great city! And yes, there are hills EVERYWHERE! I do have a few relatively flat running routes, but I try to dedicate at least one run a week to a hills. I can maintain a 9 min/mile pace until about 10 miles and then I really start to crash, so I think some speed work is in order!
Oh yes, I remember how hilly it was. Then my friend in Phoenix told she was running the SF marathon once and I thought she was crazy! “Won’t it be super hilly?!?!” Ha!
Happy Belated Birthday!!! #TotallyUsingHashtagsCorrectly #NoProperWay #SoRockEmHoweverYouWant. My birthday meal is an extra decadent cake and some really good ice cream…no grocery store crap. I don’t drink so I will celebrate with you on your birthday next year! 🙂
hahahaha, thank you!
#Itrymybest #thanksforadvice
Mmm, birthday cake and I-cream. Forget that g-store crizzap!
Can’t wait to celebrate with you!
I love how much you love tacos! Happy Birthday week!
Thank you! #tacos4life
happy birthday! I think I’d go with tacos for my birthday too.
Thank you! And birthday or not, tacos are awesome!
Happy Born Day!
Thank you Kelsie Lou!
Ugh your posts often leave me with taco cravings and it is so late! Guess I will scrounge for a Guiness (or some other beer).
Ha, sorry bout that! Tacos and Guinness, sounds like a pair to me!
Oops….happy birthday!
Thanks!
Happy birthday!!!
I used to love Guinness back when I still drank. Now I have to settle for my son’s Guinness burgers that are cooked in Guinness.
Ha, if I ate red meat, I bet that’d be awesome!
Ugh those tacos look amazing! #ineedtodomorespeedwork but right now I’m waiting on new shoes #ohandmyfreakingsinusproblems it’s bad to run when you’re dizzy and nauseous apparently #ishoulddosomehills #causeihatethetrack #imtotallyusingthehashtagscorrectly #hashtag
#bwahahahahaha! #youusehashtags #likeaboss #hashytaggy And yes, hit the hills!
#happybirthdayweek
#aye #thankyou
Dan and I couldn’t celebrate St. Patty’s properly because we were driving cross-country and beer+car are not good friends. I hope I can have fun like you did next year! Glad you enjoyed your bday!
Thank you! Chicago is famous for their St Pat party, so hopefully next year you can enjoy it!
Mmm…tacos. My go to Birthday mean is tacos as well but we make them at home and change them up a bit from the norm. I like Dairy Queen ice cream cakes as well so that is typically my dessert or a box of Edible Arrangements. YUM!
I think you are using hash tags right. #workinprogessbutfuntotry
We are doing speed work right now with my run club but in May we will start hitting the track. I find it boring. Same place and round and round we go. Going round and round on a carnival ride doesn’t get old but a track does.
If we lived closer W and I could celebrate with you guys for your bday.
I like homemade tacos as well! All tacos get in my belly!
I haven’t been to a Dairy Queen in years I don’t think. May have to look for one this summer!
Haha, I like joking around with the #hashtags!
Hmmm, do you have to do them on a track? Maybe find a qtr mile stretch of sidewalk? I don’t mind the track, I just don’t like the pukey feeling it gives me sprinting around it! #dryheaves #hardrunning
Maybe next year!
It has been a long time since I have been to a DQ too and this year I didn’t have a cake from there…but I like to. Ice cream in any form is my weakness.
I run with a group and that is where they go. It is better that way but I am just not a fan. I wouldn’t do it though if it wasn’t for the group. #theymotivate
I must run slow cause I don’t get the #dryheaves
And yes…maybe next year. We have talked about visiting Texas now…it is just a long trip to get there.
Haha, my run groups usually meet at a bar. I’m not sure if that’s a better choice or not. Haha.
Yeah, I’ve seen people on the track just jogging along at their normal long run slow pace. They aren’t going to get any faster that way. I’m lucky that I have a couple friends that really push me on the track – but it hurts. Bad.
That would be awesome if you came here for a race!!!!! It’s not that far (via plane that is). If you get serious, let me know what you’re looking for and we can coordinate!
Oh I will let you know for sure. I had already planned on connecting with you. I hope to do that now with a bloggers when I go to places.
Next month Warren and I are going to meet Reni from Cheers 3. She is in Portland and I look forward to that.
Met her through the ATWRBR. YAY!
Very cool! I got to meet one in Disney at Dopey, but was looking for more. Have fun in Portland, that will be neato!
Since my birthday is the 14th, I’ll TOTALLY celebrate with you.
DEAL!
