Relationship Troubles (w/ Gym) & Running, & Vampires, & Tacos

First up, my knee feels better each day.  I feel like that relationship will be strong for years to come.  I went on my 2nd run since I hurt it, and I must’ve had more confidence in it because I went a mile further and was running a almost a minute faster per mile that my first run (4 miles @ 8:20 per).  Hooray for that!

In other news, I fear my relationship with Gym 1 is over.  I’d worked out with Gym 1 for like 12 years, 3-4 times per week.  Since I stopped visiting, it’s weird how they haven’t even called me.  I guess I’m not missed.  Man, break-ups are hard.  I thought about going back to them, but I have access to another Gym that is free for me!  I’m going to try them out.  We’ll see if it starts another long term relationship.

With all those relationship troubles, I was ready for an escape.  Luckily this week marks the return of The Originals and Vampire Diaries.  I don’t know how I got hooked on these vampire dramas, but I like them.  I’m particularly enjoying The Originals.  I think partly because I’m a huge fan of New Orleans, where the show takes place.

At the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in New Orleans.

And as a TV producer, I do appreciate the acting, cinematography, effects, lighting, etc.  Even though it’s probably technically considered a soap opera (but what show now a days isn’t?).

At least it doesn't take place at Twilight.

I also turned to food this week for comfort.  Particularly, Tacos.  Everyday in fact.  Here’s a picture of my favorites:

On da left - Migas. On da right - Fried Avocado.

On da left – Dirty Sanchez (eggs and veggies). On da right – Fried Avocado. @ Torchy’s Tacos

So there you have it, one relationship ends, another begins, another is renewed, and it’s all balanced out with vampire dramas and vegetarian tex-mex.  Not bad I guess.

How bout you?  Ever change up a gym?  Ever had a dirty sanchez?  Ever watch dramas about 100 year old “teen” vampires?

  1. Sounds like the relationship you need to be concerned about is the tacos, mister!

  2. That taco relationship looks like a keeper!

  3. I love The Originals! Vampire Diaries too. I was so excited about Klaus/Caroline!

My son walked by when I was watching the Originals & he asked who Rebecca was because she was hot. He may start watching now too.

  4. Way to just slip that dirty sanchez joke in there, bravo. 🙂 You know my feelings on vampire related TV shows!

  5. Gyms intimidate me. I don’t like to go to new gyms alone. Yes it’s a lame insecurity…

  6. Tacos everyday sounds amazing!

  7. Those tacos look amazing! Those 2 shows should be right up my alley but for some reason never clicked. I’ve made it halfway through the 1st season of Vampires Diaries twice but no farther,

    • They tasted even better! Funny thing is that I never watched season 1, I picked up somewhere in the middle of season 2. Maybe they had to work out the kinks first?

Ooh, we don’t have The Originals here…. Yet!

A loooonnnggg time ago I paid a bazillion dollars to join this gym. For $3,567,987.27 …. give or take a dollar or two … I got a free personal trainer session. But it did come with a real perk – after my 3 year membership was up, I was allowed to renew my membership each year for the stoopidly low price of $21.99 per YEAR! So even if I don’t go again I will never give that up.

By the way, I want a taco now … and its 6:30am.

    • Haha, I actually signed up a long time ago with the deal of paying the whole year at a time for like $250. A pretty good deal, esp considering all the classes are included. I did notice though that they’ve been secretly raising the price on me each year. I may go back and negotiate. Hold on to your deal for sure!!!!!
Breakfast tacos are good at that time!

  10. You just settled my dinner plans…taco night at my house!

  11. I’m glad you a fellow taco-lover; I could eat them at every meal.

  12. I’ve never seen The Originals, but kinda dig cool vampire shows. I’ll have to look for it (maybe we don’t get it up here). Tacos look awesome, something else we don’t get up here. I think I’d stick to the fried avacado side. I don’t know if I could bring myselt to order a Dirty Sanchez, I feel dirty just typing that name.

    • It’s on the CW, if that helps. I don’t think I could live somewhere without tacos!!! Oh my! And yes, the Dirty Sanchez is a naughty name they gave it (they also have a Mr. Pink Taco). Tee heee.

  13. Free gym is waay awesome! My favorite gym experience was Work Out World in NJ. Although it was home to the typical Jersey meat heads, we were there while they were probably just heading to bed after a night of fist pumping.

I love tacos! I wish every day could be taco Tuesday. But I prefer home made tacos. I make some wicked shredded chicken tacos. Damn now I want some tacos. Can I say tacos one more time? Tacos.

I liked all the vampire stuff before vampires became “cool”. I’m talking Interview With A Vampire and Blade… You know, the “classics”. I can’t get into the new stuff.

    Also, glad you’re feeling better!

    • Oh no! We do get the roided bro’s here, but I don’t know how I could handle the Jersey ones!Haha, fist pumping is their language!

You’re making me hungry with taco talk too! Tacos for everyone!

I know what you mean. I think I saw part of the first Twilight and HATED it. But these are OK, and they shoot the Originals in the same cemetary in New Orleans where they shot Interview with a V. So that’s helps. If you like ‘classics’, you must love Bela Lugosi!

      • I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve never seen any of the old monster flicks… including Dracula. I do, however, love older movies so I am sure I would enjoy it.

      • Ha, well be warned, the vampires weren’t as pretty as they are now!

  14. Congrats on the run! Post injury runs are some of the best, I think 🙂

  15. YAY for running!! I’m so glad you are feeling better. 🙂 I hope it continues and continues!

I already had lunch today, but dammit those tacos look good. Are those from that place you posted about on Twitter? Because I want to go there.

    • Thank you!!!

Yes, they are from Torchy’s. I’m telling you, whenever you come here for a race, I’ll make sure your belly is full of em!

  16. Those tacos look so good. I had Mexican twice in the last week-love it.
By the way, I saw someone in scrubs at my gym last week. I blame you.
