Disney Dopey Challenge Complete!

Another quick update from sunny florida. I’ll post full recaps soon, but here’s the latest teaser.

We finished all 4 races! I kept it slow and easy the first three (5k, 10k, 13.1) trying to save as much as possible for the 26.2. Just tried to have fun!

I had a pipe dream of pr’ing the full and breaking 4 hours. I was on pace to do so but the cumulative miles took their toll and my legs cramped the last 5 miles. So I didn’t break 4 but still pr’d at around 4:07!

Anyways, off to enjoy the theme parks. More to come! Hope everyone is well and I really appreciate all the support y’all have been sending me!

  1. That is still a really great time! Congrats, have fun at the park, and I look forward to the full recaps! I’m not seeing my scrooge mcduck costume though…

  2. Awesome stuff! Enjoy the recover time and the theme park! πŸ™‚

  3. Congrats on your time!! 4:07 is AWESOME! (Especially after running so many miles in the previous days!) I cannot wait for your recaps. Have a safe trip home!

Are you going to do it again next year? I’m in the early planning stages now. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! I wonder what my time would’ve been if we hadn’t run 22.4 miles before hand! Not sure about next year. After I finished I said “no way” to people who asked. But people always say that after a full!

  4. Woo Hooo… looks like someone has been working on their race photo poses πŸ™‚ I can’t believe this journey has come to a end… YOU DID IT. I’m partly sad its over …I’ve enjoyed the day to day lead ups to this race and reading about all your ups and downs and dog encounters. Enjoy your time there and relax a little!

    • Thanks so much! Yes, I’m excited to see the official race photos too! I’m a little sad too, but feel accomplished. I’ll have more running adventures, hope you continue to enjoy them!

  5. Amazing job! And a PR after three races is seriously impressive!
Can’t wait to read the full recaps. In the meantime, have fun with the family in the parks!

  6. TartanJogger

Woo hoo! Well done on the PR! Don’t hurt your back, lugging around all of that bling! πŸ˜‰

  7. I know I’m a smartass normally but seriously well done friend! πŸ™‚ The hard work obviously paid off big time.

  8. Reblogged this on My Journey: 1,000 Miles in 2014 and commented:
Four races in four days. Awesome but a little Dopey! 5K, 10K, 13.1, 26.2…

  9. mtbader

A PR after running three other races?! Insanity! I’m hoping to just survive a marathon this weekend and that’s the only run I have (clearly!). Big congrats!

  10. Congrats on the PR!!!!!

  11. Congratulations, that is an amazing accomplishment! I was up early for a race on Sunday morning so I saw your updates on twitter as you ran, I was cheering for you!

    • Awww, thank you! I felt a little bad for some friends I knew were flowing when my pace went downhill the last 5 miles, felt like I was letting them down, but they’ve still been supportive.

  12. I’m thoroughly impressed. Woooo hoooo!!!

  13. All that bling….
I can’t wait to read the full recaps.

  14. Wowzas! What a marathon after THREE DAYS of races! Congrats on a job well done!

  15. Congrats! Looking forward to the recaps!

  16. Congrats – I still think you are crazy for doing this. But hell, I’m also jealous. Bring on the tacos!

  17. Urban Running Girl

Congrats! What a great time we all had bringing home the bling! Enjoy the rest of your trip.

  18. Fantastic! Congrats!!

  19. Congrats on the full PR! I was totally on pace to PR but opted for stopping for some character pics – even with 13 character pictures I was only about 4 minutes off a PR though so not too bad!

So glad we got to meet quickly, looking forward to reading your recaps!

    • Thanks! When I realized my time goal was out the window, I did make a pit stop and got a couple character pics. Still managed to PR, so I’ll take it!

  20. Congratulations! Such hard work, dedication and a lot of sweat/pain along the way I am sure! Hats off to you!

  21. YAY for you! I am so excited for you and for your PR! Congratulations! Looking forward to reading all the recaps!

    • Thank you!!! The recaps are coming…slowly because I’ve been waiting for the photos. It’s taking them a while, understandably, to go through the thousands and match them up!
