Last day of 2013. I got one last run and weight session in. It gave me time to think about the past year. Here’s what had happened…
It started by running the 20th Anniversary of the Disney Marathon in Orlando…
As part of that, the boy ran the Kid’s Race and won his heat!
I also kept my streak alive of being undefeated against celebrities in races. You can read about the others HERE, but this time I beat Joey Fatone….
Explored the Orlando Theme Parks with…
Celebrated the boy’s birthday at a fire station (his choice)…
I then ran the Too Cold to Hold 5 miler. You can see the recap HERE – A bunch of friends joined me…
I ran the Dallas Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon. You can see the recap HERE…

I know it looks like Brooks threw up on me, but don’t care cause it was cold! I needed more of that tin foil stuff to wrap me up like a baked potato.
I then got to produce a bunch more videos with the hilarious Flula…
I got to celebrate my birthday and St. Patty’s Day in a special way, which you can see HERE…
Then I won my age group in a very special 5k that you can see the recap HERE…
I then got to meet up with my sis and sis from another miss in Raleigh, NC…
After a few days of fun, we were off to the Outer Banks to run the Flying Pirate Half Marathon, which you can read my recap about HERE…
We had a bit of fun exploring the site of the Wright Bros first flight…
And celebrated on the beach…
Unfortunately, the next day was the bombing of the Boston Marathon. I wrote my thoughts on it HERE, which I got a huge response from. Apparently I wrote what others were feeling.
I then ran another 5k, you can read about it HERE…
Then my soccer team finished in second place after losing in a shoot-out after double overtime…
I continued running with Thursday Night Social Run...
I ran another 5k, recap HERE…
I re-incorporated trail running into my repertoire…
Got to play a ninja in a music video…
I then ran in an unofficial 4×1 mile relay race, recap HERE…
I then ran my first Beer Mile race (4x 1/4 mile + 1 beer at each). I finished 2nd overall. Recap HERE…
I became a part of a new run training group – Project Run 214…
Got to see Mumford and Sons with family and friends…
Went to the local Oktoberfest so that I could drink free beer cheer my friends running the 5k…
Enrolled the boy in his first hockey class…
Went to the coast of Texas to teach a class on TV production and collect some awards…
I ran my first 15k race. Recap HERE…
Tested out a new mode of transportation…
Went trick or treating with the rug rats…
I then went to the Alamo to look for my bike…
Won two more Emmy’s for the mantle…
Hung out with Nitro from American Gladiators…
I then tweaked something in my knee…
Cheered for more friends running a Thanksgiving day race…
Survived a North Texas ice storm…
Which forced me to the dreadmill to continue my training…
Helped a friend run the final few of his 30 mile run for charity…
Celebrated the holidays with family and friends…
And ate a buttload of tacos…
BTW, my knee is feeling pretty great. I’m almost done training for next week’s Dopey Challenge (5k, 10k, 13.1, 26.2) at Disney World! Can’t wait to get these 6 medals!
In between we just kept on trying to keep on. Hanging out at home with the fams and dogs. Making videos. Yoga-ing. Working out. Cooking. Laughing. Oh, and blogging.
How was your year? Did you make the most of it? How’s your 2014 looking? Big plans? Holla!
Wow, that’s a pretty fantastic year…awesome runs and Emmy’s! can’t top that 😉 You’ve got some pretty cute kids too. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thank you!
I did my best trying to make them cute. Haha, happy new year to y’all too!
I’d say that’s a pretty awesome year! And don’t hurt yourself wearing all the medals you’re gonna receive next week. Happy New Year!
Thank you! I shall keep your advice in mind! I’ll probably just wear the Dopey medal after as people there will know what it represents…Or maybe I’ll wear all of em!
Yup — the year in review just confirmed for me how crazy you really are. I like it.
What she said.
Haha, y’all are just now confirming this?!?!?
We’re a special breed.
Great way to recap the year. Sounds like a great one!
Thanks! I forgot how much went on!
You have some really great pictures! Sounds like a productive year!
Thank you! It was fun looking back over everything!
That picture of him running is awesome! Congrats on what looks like a great year!
Thank you!!! I have video of it too that I still haven’t uploaded. Soon!
Holy moley you’ve had a crazy busy year! What a great way to look back at all you’ve accomplished! And lol when hiking in the summer, I prefer to be at the back of the pack so others see snakes/lizards first…
Haha, thanks! And thank you for being probably the only person who consistently reads my captions. I try to come up with something silly to put on the photos.
Lol the captions are the best part 😉
Looks like a wonderful year! Here’s to more awesomeness in 2014!
Yes! I believe the Chinese calendar says it’s the Year of Awesomeness!
I think you’re correct!
I loved your recap. Btw, keep an eye on your son in the hockey getup. He’s got a “Jason” look about him in that pic.
Haha, I will do that. Hopefully I won’t wake up in the middle of the night to see him standing over me in a hockey mask!
Wow- fantastic recap! Hard to believe what people can fit into one year!
That cowgirl is pretty darn cute 🙂
And I wasn’t sure if you were serious about the Emmys on my blog post comment. Congratulations!
Lastly, glad to hear the knee is feeling better. Looking forward to following along in 2014.
Haha, thanks! I do joke about a lot of stuff, but I do take my job pretty serious – in a fun way!
I look forward to seeing what you have in store too! Happy New Year!
Wow. That is one AMAZING year. Makes me feel like a slacker. Hoping 2014 is just as amazing.
Well, I wouldn’t have done so much if I had to do it in denim. Happy New Year to you!
Great year! Congrats! Before long, your boy will be running 5ks with you and beating you to the finish line! Btw- he looks like he’d make good defence with that determined look.
Haha, thanks! I can’t wait for him to be beating me in races, but he’s going to have to earn it!
Defense, eh? Well when they scrimmaged against the coaches he did get tired of them scoring and went to protect the net. Haha!
